Conversion (conversion psychology)

When a visitor takes the action a page aims for, like buying, booking, or requesting a quote.

What is conversion, and what is conversion psychology, on a website?

A conversion is the action that turns a visitor into a lead or a customer, and it depends on the business: for a store it is a purchase; for a catalog that sells through WhatsApp, a message with real intent; for a services business, a quote request; for a clinic, a booked appointment. The conversion rate is the percentage of visits that reach that action.

Conversion psychology uses what is known about how people make decisions to design every step. Some principles have names of their own, like Hick's law (fewer options means faster decisions) or the Fogg Behavior Model, where an action happens when motivation, ability, and a prompt all line up at once.

Why it matters to your business

Doubling your conversion rate brings in the same number of customers as doubling your traffic. That is why, before spending more on ads, it is worth checking what actually happens on the page: whether the main button is visible without hunting for it, and whether booking an appointment takes two taps or six.

How we use this at Damorus

In Küsten Elite we judged every button against one question: does this move someone closer to contact, or further away? That produced a single dominant call to action per screen, buttons at least 48 pixels tall where a thumb naturally rests, and a WhatsApp link with the message already written in. In La Roca we defined conversion as a message with real intent and removed a third button that was competing for attention on the product cards. This very site, Damorus Projects, is laid out so the visitor lands on the four-question screen where a project begins.
