Webhooks
Automatic alerts that one service sends to another program when something happens, like an approved payment.
What is a webhook, and how does it confirm my store's payments automatically?
A webhook is a call an outside service makes to an address on your server when an event happens. Instead of your store asking every minute whether a payment has been approved yet, the gateway tells it the moment it actually happens.
Since anyone could technically call that address, the server checks that the notification really comes from who it claims to, and looks up the real status before acting on it. It also responds quickly, so the service doesn't send the same notification again.
Why it matters to your business
With webhooks, the store confirms payments and sends emails without anyone having to watch a screen. That means a sale can happen at midnight and the order is already sitting there ready by morning.
How we use this at Damorus
At URG Technology, when Mercado Pago approves a payment, it sends a webhook to a cloud function that validates where it came from, checks the real status of the payment, deducts stock, and fires off emails to both the customer and the admin. The function always replies "received," so the gateway doesn't send the notification again. Before that change, which shipped in version v24.18.25, the store needed a dashboard tab left open just to process confirmations.
