Web analytics

A record of which pages people visit, how long they stay, and what they click on.

What is web analytics, and how do I know how many people visit my site?

Web analytics records what visitors do: which pages they open, what city or campaign they arrive from, how far they scroll, and which button they click. That data builds dashboards showing, for example, how many visits an Instagram post brought in, or how many people tapped the WhatsApp button.

You can use a free third-party tool, like Google Analytics, or build your own analytics system. Building your own takes more work, but the data stays in your own database, and the dashboard shows exactly what your business needs to see.

Why it matters to your business

Without measurement, decisions about ads, content, or design get made by gut feeling. With it, you know which post brings in visits and which product gets the most looks, so you can invest where the results actually are. It also helps you find out that something you have been paying for is not bringing in anyone at all.

How we use this at Damorus

For La Roca we built our own analytics instead of using Google Analytics: a roughly 203-line script logs pages, sources, and taps on WhatsApp, Maps, and Instagram, filters out bots before sending, and stores the events in Postgres, with a dashboard set to Bogotá time. With it we saw that the "piedra muñeca" stone was being searched for from across the whole country. We still do not measure how many conversations turn into a sale, because that part happens in chat. In URG Technology the dashboard brings together 31 metrics across seven groups.
