Vercel

A platform that hosts websites and publishes them automatically each time their code is updated.

What is Vercel, and why is it used to publish websites?

Vercel is a platform for publishing websites and web apps. It connects to the project's code repository, and every time a change comes in, it builds and publishes it, with a preview available before it goes live.

It serves static files from its own network and runs functions that wake up only when someone calls them. It's the company behind Next.js, though it hosts sites built with plenty of other technologies too, even plain HTML with no framework at all.

Why it matters to your business

For a business, that means a fast site that's hard to take down, with very low costs while traffic stays moderate, and automatic publishing that doesn't depend on someone uploading files by hand.

How we use this at Damorus

La Roca lives on Vercel: 22 static pages written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, Edge functions for the analytics, and secrets kept in environment variables that never reach the browser; every change publishes itself straight from GitHub. Küsten Elite is a static subpath inside a Next.js project hosted on Vercel, deployed in a single push of 19 files. At Atlantic Center, the private page for downloading the program also runs on Vercel, with a protected password and temporary signed links.
