Does PayPal work for charging customers in other countries from my business?
PayPal is an online payment platform available in many countries. The buyer pays with the balance or card linked to their account, without typing card details into your site, and the seller receives the money in their PayPal account.
It can be used as a payment button on a store or to send invoices to customers abroad. Its fees vary by country and by the type of transaction, so it's worth checking them on its official site, especially when currency conversion is involved.
Why it matters to your business
For a business selling services to customers in the United States or Europe, PayPal can be an option the buyer already trusts and knows. Before offering it, it's worth comparing its fees against other options, because on small sales they eat into the margin.
How we use this at Damorus
We don't currently use PayPal on any of our published projects, and on this site, project payments are made by bank transfer in Colombia, the United States, or Europe, or in cryptocurrency. We'd consider it for a client selling to buyers in other countries who already have a PayPal account, after comparing its cost against Stripe or Mercado Pago depending on where the business is based.
