CDN (Content Delivery Network)
A worldwide network of servers that delivers each page from the location closest to the visitor.
What is a CDN, and does it make my website faster?
CDN stands for content delivery network. Instead of every visit traveling all the way to a single server, the network keeps copies of the images, styles, and pages at many points around the world, and each person gets them from the nearest one.
Since the traffic passes through that network first, it also works as a shield: it absorbs traffic spikes and can filter out attacks before they reach the origin server.
Why it matters to your business
Distance shows up as speed: a customer in Berlin opening a site hosted only in Bogotá waits longer than one receiving it from a European node. If you sell to several countries, a CDN keeps the site responding about the same everywhere, and a page that loads fast gives people fewer reasons to leave.
How we use this at Damorus
La Roca and Küsten Elite are served from Vercel, whose network delivers static files from the edge, close to whoever is visiting; on La Roca, the analytics functions also run there. All of our plans also include Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to speed up loading and filter out dangerous traffic.
