Domain name

A website's address on the internet, what people type in the browser to reach it, like example.com.

What is a domain name, and who pays for it?

A domain name is your site's address on the internet, what people type or share to reach you, like yourbusiness.com or yourbusiness.co. It is registered for set periods and needs to be renewed; if it lapses, the site and any email addresses tied to that name stop working.

The domain also carries the records that confirm to other services that the emails you send are legitimate. In our plans, getting your domain and keeping it active for the first year is included; from the second year on it falls under the annual renewal.

Why it matters to your business

A domain of your own is part of your brand: an email address or a web address with your name on it looks more established than a borrowed profile. It is also an asset, because everything you earn in Google search stays tied to that address, so it is worth making sure it is registered in your name and does not lapse by accident.

How we use this at Damorus

La Roca's catalog lives at larocapiedrasylajas.com. In URG Technology the master dashboard checks the domain's DNS records that keep emails from landing in spam, and the store sends email from a verified domain using SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. Our concept sites, like Küsten Elite, get published on a subpath of our own domain while the client decides.
