Website maintenance
Regularly checking and updating a website so it stays online, error-free, and secure.
Do I have to pay a monthly fee to maintain the site?
There's no monthly fee for maintenance in our plans. Maintaining a site means keeping it online and working: active hosting, a renewed domain, a valid certificate, up-to-date backups, and someone watching that nothing breaks. All of that is included the first year, with a 2-year warranty: if something we delivered doesn't work as agreed, we fix it at no cost. From the second year on, there's an annual renewal, starting at $30 USD on Silver.
The only added cost would come if your project stores a lot of data and goes past the free limits of the services we use, and we'd flag that well in advance. Updates, meaning new content, features, or sections, are quoted separately: Gold includes three months at three hours a month, Diamond six months at six hours a month, and on Silver they're quoted by block.
Why it matters to your business
A monthly fee just to keep the site turned on adds up year after year. Knowing what's included, for how long, and what's billed separately lets you compare offers clearly and avoids surprises in year two.
How we use this at Damorus
We weighed charging a monthly fee of 5% of the project cost against including the warranty and billing updates separately, and the second option won, because a mandatory monthly fee feels like rent and makes people hesitate. Gold includes 3 months of updates with 3 hours a month, and Diamond includes 6 months with 6 hours a month; anything beyond that gets quoted separately. Several of our projects are built to need very little upkeep: La Roca has no server of its own and no framework, and Küsten Elite has no libraries to update.
