Responsive design
Design that makes a page adapt by itself to any screen size, from phone to desktop.
What is responsive design, and why should my website be designed for mobile first?
Responsive design rearranges the same content based on screen size: a desktop layout might show three columns, and mobile just one, with bigger buttons and menus that open with a thumb.
"Mobile first" takes that a step further: you design for the phone first, then expand for larger screens. It forces you to decide what actually matters most, because a small screen has no room for everything.
Why it matters to your business
Most of your customers discover you on their phone, coming in from Instagram or a Google search. If the price is unreadable or the contact button is hidden on mobile, you lose that visit even if everything looks perfect on desktop.
How we use this at Damorus
We design every project for mobile first. On the Damorus Projects site we expect somewhere between 80 and 90% of visits from phones, and the navigation is a floating pill that shrinks as you scroll and hides when the keyboard opens. For Küsten Elite we built the client six different ways to show her services on mobile (carousel, two columns, accordion, tabs, list, and a tiled grid), and she picked the tiled grid.
