Payment gateway

A service that processes an online store's payments and sends the money to the seller.

What is a payment gateway?

A payment gateway is the service that processes an online purchase: it takes the customer's payment, talks to the bank or the card network, and tells your store whether it went through. The money reaches your account without you having to confirm anything by hand.

With a hosted checkout, like Mercado Pago's Checkout Pro, card details are entered on the gateway's own page and your store never stores them. There are local and global gateways, and the right choice depends on where your customers are and how they prefer to pay. We integrate whichever ones work best for your business.

Why it matters to your business

Charging by hand, asking for bank transfers and checking screenshots, works fine with a handful of orders and turns slow and risky once sales grow. A gateway confirms payments on its own at any hour and gives the customer a payment environment they already recognize. In exchange, it charges a fee per transaction.

How we use this at Damorus

The URG Technology store charges through Mercado Pago Checkout Pro, which confirms every payment on the server, and also offers Bre-B with a receipt upload. La Roca chose to skip a gateway entirely: stone is priced by the meter, by cut, and by shipping, so the cart puts the order together and sends it over WhatsApp, with no fees and no card data to protect. For Küsten Elite, we proposed adding a gateway, visible pricing, and automated emails for around $700 USD. In our plans, the payment gateway is included starting on Gold.
