Checkout

The last stretch of an online purchase: buyer information, delivery, order summary, and payment.

What does an online store's checkout need to have so it does not lose sales?

Checkout starts the moment a customer decides to buy and ends when the payment is confirmed. It includes the information form, the delivery method, a summary with taxes and shipping costs, and the choice of payment method.

It is a delicate stretch, because the person has already decided, and any friction can make them back out, like a cost that appears at the very end or a payment method they cannot use.

Why it matters to your business

A customer who reaches checkout has already done almost all the work, and losing them there is expensive. It often comes down to simple fixes, like showing the real total before the final click and accepting the payment methods your customers actually use. In Colombia, that can mean credit cards, bank transfers through PSE, Bre-B, or Nequi, a popular Colombian digital wallet.

How we use this at Damorus

URG Technology's checkout asks only for what is needed to invoice and deliver, allows invoicing to a company name, and offers free pickup at the store, free shipping in Bogotá, or shipping to another city. If a field is missing, it takes the customer straight to the first one left blank. The summary breaks out VAT, which for computers depends on a threshold of 50 UVT (Colombia's tax-value unit), and coupon discounts show on their own line before choosing between Mercado Pago and Bre-B.
