Open Graph protocol
Invisible tags that set the image, title, and description of a link when it is shared.
What is Open Graph, and why does my link show up without an image on WhatsApp?
Open Graph is a set of invisible tags placed on each page to specify which image, title, and description apps should show when someone shares the link. Messaging apps and social networks read them to build that preview card.
If they're missing, each app has to guess: it grabs some random image or shows none at all, and the link ends up looking neglected.
Why it matters to your business
A lot of businesses sell through a link shared on WhatsApp or social media. A preview with a good image and a clear title invites people to click, and an empty box breeds distrust.
How we use this at Damorus
At URG Technology, every product page has a share button, and pasting the link into WhatsApp shows the photo, the name, and the price of the computer. At La Roca, every page carries Open Graph tags, and the city pages change their preview for social media. This site generates its own share images in code, at 1,200 by 630 pixels, instead of designing each one by hand.
