Environmental engineering

The branch of engineering that measures and reduces the impact of human activity on the environment.

What does an environmental engineer do, and how can one help a business?

Environmental engineering studies how noise, water, air, waste, or land use affect people and ecosystems, and designs ways to measure and control that impact. It works with measurements, models, maps, and evidence review.

Its way of thinking is useful beyond environmental work: framing a clear question and drawing conclusions that hold up under scrutiny.

Why it matters to your business

A company that builds or expands needs to understand its impact, whether to comply with a regulation or to answer an investor asking about sustainability. A well-done study turns that concern into concrete, technically backed decisions.

How we use this at Damorus

Part of our team is an environmental engineer from Universidad Distrital in Bogotá. Their thesis, The Airport Inside the City, reviewed 88 documents published between 2000 and 2021 on noise from El Dorado airport and the health of its neighbors. That background is where our sustainability and environmental service comes from, with technical studies, reports, and map-based analysis.
